Flexible rings, rings made of small beads or rings made of stones and minerals are the hottest trend of the season. Original, sensual and different from others, this is something every woman is looking for in jewelry. They decorate and discover a piece of our interior at the same time. Find out how to make a beautiful, personalized beaded ring!
What will you need to create a beaded ring?
Beads / Stones / Pearls / Minerals - focus on your imagination, consider whether you prefer. Strong, clear colors of plastic beads or romantic, pastel shades of minerals and precious stones.
Jewelery elastic thread - quality and durability above all. The jewelry thread plays a key role. Make sure it is a professional material, used for handicrafts or dedicated to jewelry. The thickness of the jewelry thread should measure between 0.4mm and 0.6mm, but it depends on the size of the bead hole that we will use to create the ring.
Scissors - they will help us cut the appropriate length of the jewelry thread.
Ribbon - will be an extra help. Wrap it around the target finger on which you would like to create your beaded ring, thanks to which you will obtain a length that you can confidently follow when threading the beads later.
A handful of patience - the combination of handicraft and small jewelry elements requires concentration and a bit of technique. Beads for making rings are small pieces, not to mention the hole through which you have to thread the line, so calmness and composure is something that will definitely come in handy!
Do it yourself, how to make an elastic ring in 6 steps
Step 1. Get all of the above materials ready.
Step 2. Measure the finger on which you want to wear the elastic ring with a ribbon.
Step 3. Thread a combination of beads or stones onto a flexible jewelry line.
Step 4. Without tying the elastic thread, wrap the target finger with it and check that the number of beads is appropriate. Remember that the ring must not pinch the finger or slide off it. Make sure that the thread is not visible and that there are enough beads.
Step 5. Tie a jewelry elastic thread and pull it gently so that the knots can hide in the bead's hole. Thanks to this, you will get an aesthetic, continuous row of beads.
Step 6. Done! Enjoy it, combine it, mix colors and forms, flexible rings are jewelry that will definitely stand out from other models.
Knots, the super power of flexible rings
Straight knot - a knot that you know from an early age. If you use this knot to connect the two ends of a jewelry line, tie it twice to strengthen the elastic ring closure. Repeat the second binding like the first one, but in the other direction.
Double simple knot - easy and safe knot. Make a loop while tying the line, and without tightening the knot, pass one end of the line through the loop again.
Cleat knot - ideal for joining two ropes. Make a loop. Wrap the loop with the other end of the line, and pass it under a section of the same line with the end of the line towards the outside of the loop.
Hunter's Knot - Strong and effective. Fold the loops at both ends of the line. The loops must pass through each other. This is similar to a chain pattern. Pass the ends of the line through the corresponding loop. Tighten it tightly.
IMPORTANT
A jewelry thread is a gum with a slippery surface. If you have chosen a straight knot for tying the gum, you can sprinkle the bond with glue to prevent loosening.
The beads for creating elastic rings must not be too large. Beads with a diameter of 2.0mm - 3.5mm work best. Visible, delicate and, more importantly, comfortable size, which allows us to freely perform any activity.
Over time, the jewelry thread stretches. When adjusting the size of a flexible ring, make sure it gently hugs your finger, being aware that the size may slightly increase.
When cutting a jewelry thread to hide it in the bead's hole, leave a gap of 1.0mm - 1.5mm from the knot. This provides additional protection in the event of a jerk on the elastic gum of the ring.
